This is a brand new FFXI install to a Win8.1 laptop; FFXI runs just fine normally (Steam) but when launching via Windower it crashes when FFXI tries to open (after POL). I went back and disable all addons+plugins, and it still crashes. My graphics are set to fullscreen in Windower. Using latest Windower, latest POL, latest FFXI install. Check Files came out okay. And I'm running Windower under administrator.

Any ideas? I've tried a reboot, no luck. I enabled Error Log in Windower, but I can't find that file.

This is also happening to me suddenly as well, also on Windows 8.1.  Vanilla POL launches fine (not through Steam in my case) but Windower won't get past the splash screen.  Things were fine this past Monday.

I have Win 8 and I get "App not compatible" for Windower. FFXi will run but crashes after 5 minutes.

It's a common and known issue with Windows 8. Unfortunately we did not yet figure out how to fix it.

In my case, though, I'd been running Windower on 8.1 fine for months.  The only system change I made between Monday and yesterday was dropping in a new power supply, which should have zero effect on the OS.

That's not just your case, that's everyone's case. It works fine for a while then for apparently no reason it stops working and starts crashing. It fits the description of every other such problem. Regardless, we can't do anything without a crash dump, so if you wanna provide that, feel free to. However, I wouldn't count on a fast resolution of the problem. We would love to fix it, but we have no idea what's wrong and we cannot reproduce it, as it seems to occur randomly, and no crash dumps in the past have helped.
