i was looking for info on this plugin, i love the mini-map its brilliant, just curious as to whether it is possible to resize the map (i don't mean zoom in or out) and possibly also change its shape. or maybe these functions are in the "to do" pile. love the plugin though. also what maps does it use? does it use the in game DAT's as the map? thanks in advance for replies.

It uses in-game DAT files, and no, it's currently not possible to resize it, although that is definitely planned. Changing shapes is also not possible, but that's also not really planned. Maybe if one of us gets really bored at some point

ij ust want to second that, the minimap would be best if square. and are all for it changing. would go nice since all windower and ffxi guis are square. or lists. it also offers more viewspace

More view space always also means less screen space. Circle makes objectively a lot more sense. If you increased the circle radius, you could see further in every direction, if you made it square you could only see further in some directions. I really don't think that's an issue at all, to be honest, maybe it just takes some getting used to, but practically a circle is much better.

i didnt suggest to increase the size or radius, just fill it out so its square. 5x5? pixels to make corners would not be "removing screenspace". the width and height would be same. which i find it to be more practical because you can zoom out and have it cover a grid. in fact i dont see any reason a circle is any more practical other than preference and no i wouldnt get use to it since everytime i use it that is the first thing i notice. lol however i guess since i cant change it, id have to live with the preference.

You are removing screen space in the corners. The game doesn't work in a square grid. You're not seeing further into the northwest direction than in the north direction, which is precisely what would happen. A circle is objectively the most practical because it has no directional bias, just like the game itself. It shows equally far into every direction while maintaining as much view space on the screen as possible by cutting off the irrelevant corners.
There might be an option for this someday, but it's really not a priority. An option to resize the map itself would be more practical as it's really small on high resolutions (that's what I'm currently working on). Maybe I'll add a feature for that afterwards, but as usual, no promises.

I havent used this much but, unless its already there, showing the "pos" would be really useful for when your looking for something at say K-5 in jugner forest.

This doesn't seem to work in all zones. I warped to Castle Zvahl Keep via Waypoint and it disappeared. no amount of unload, load, or reload would make it appear.

It's planned.

It all relies on user-compiled data, some of it is simply wrong. It would be awesome if you could report the exact position where it didn't work, so we can go and verify it.

another thing too that would be nice is if the maps for outside areas, not towns, were smaller. "If" that is even possible.

We actually found a way to calculate the exact position just recently thanks to a new contributor. We will try to incorporate it, so it will always show the exact position and not rely on any manually compiled map data.
And what do you mean, smaller maps? You mean the radar itself should be smaller? That's kind of a weird request, but if we add resizing you'll be bale to write a Lua script to do it.

It doesn't work any where in the zone. the map won't appear. I also found it doesn't appear in the Kamihr Drifts zone either.

I just want to say I love this thing and have really no complaints or criticism at all. But I do have a question. Can it be turned off in game? And sorry if this is a dumb question, Im not great with things like this.

Currently you have to unload it to make it go away: //unload ffxidb

Love this plugin. I used to use mappy, and since the signatures have all failed I had to find something new - and I'm sadly not tech-savvy enough to figure offsets and fix that kind of thing... Anyhoo, I know a lot is planned on most of the plugins and windower itself, but I was wondering if there was a way currently to turn on NPC (mob) names to display on the minimap by default. I know they are available on mouseover, but a quick look at the map would help a lot.
By the way, awesome integration. It's very user friendly and unintrusive. (and a side note, - not to poke or stir up trouble- I understand the logic of the circle map, but I too personally prefer a square. It's more of a... map, I suppose. Unroll an old scroll it was a square map, atlas maps are (or were classically) all square or rectangular, and the same for the roadside folded up maps you pickup while lost from your local gas station. Not that I don't like the circle, lol. After all every game does a circle mini-map these days.) -Thanks for the great plugin!

That can be added easily, I'll try to do it today.
And yeah, the square map has been requested often, so I'll probably add an option for that at some point, but it won't be soon, because it's harder than it sounds.

Any future plans to allow this to be dragged to a second monitor?

No, that's pretty much impossible.
