      Hello,

      I am running into an issue since a recent Windows 10 update. When I run Windower and try to adjust the Resolution, any value I put in there, the moment I leave the box to adjust the other, it reverts to 0 and puts a red box around it.

      Attached File  Windower Resolution.png   16.45K   10 downloads

      When I try and run the game, it crashes and tells me:

      Attached File  FFXI Direct3D Error.png   145.97K   12 downloads

      It will also revert the XI Config resolution to extremely low values:

      Attached File  FFXI Config.png   22.95K   9 downloads

      I can re-adjust the values in XI Config and run the game no problem.

      I am running this as Admin as well. I have gone through and completely removed Windower and reinstalled, but, still encounter this issue. Any help?

      Cheers,

        There appears to be a bug in the code that queries the system resolution. For now, you should be able to work around the issue by modifying settings.xml file to the resolution you want.

          Thanks for the response. At the risk of sounding stupid, any idea what the string I should use for resolution is? This is my current layout of settings.xml :

          4Yx3Mr2.png

          I've also tried to put in something like <resolution>1600x900</resolution> but when I run Windower, it erases anything I've had there and goes back to what's above. Very frustrating...

            <width>whateveryouuse</width>

              Thanks everyone, it's all fixed now! Once I entered that into the settings XML, I just had to change the resolution in the FFXI Config, run the game once without Windower and then again with and all is working.

                Hi there, I'm having this same problem and I've tried changing the settings xml but still get the error message and crash. The game works fine when I change the xi config and load without windower. I also tried following Endtanis' steps and it still doesn't work.

                I'm not sure what it was I did differently, but I've gotten it working now.

                  When i double click the settings.xml file I get the following error:

                  "The file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, of one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs  control panel.

                  When I right click and open in note pad I only have the following text:

                  <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
                  <settings>
                    <profile name="">
                      <consolekey>Insert</consolekey>
                      <uiscale>1</uiscale>
                    </profile>
                  </settings>

                      With the Windows 10 update it completely screwed up my FFXI settings (in vanilla settings and in Windower settings).  Adding this line to the settings.xml fixed everything.  Thank you!!

                      Hello,

                      I am running into an issue since a recent Windows 10 update. When I run Windower and try to adjust the Resolution, any value I put in there, the moment I leave the box to adjust the other, it reverts to 0 and puts a red box around it.

                      Hey End! :)

                      If you're talking about the Creator Update for Windows 10, I had to rollback / recover from it.  No, not just because of Windower.  I have a policy if I find more than three issues, I consider rolling back and five or more I do rollback.  Well, I found seven and did a rollback.

                      Honestly, I hadn't even gotten to Windower / FFXI, but it was on my list to test (business before pleasure, right).

                      Glad there is a workaround, but sorry to see the update caused Windower to stop working.  IMHO, this wasn't a well tested Windows update by Microsoft.  Yes, I'm sure they tested it, but obviously not enough regression and/or third party program testing.

                      IB.
