settings.xml comment

i am trying to add a comment to my settings.xml in windower i searched through some other xml files to learn u <!-- Add Your Comment Here --> to make a comment in .xml files but when i do this to settings.xml it wipes the whole file on next windower load i thought comments were unread by the system and were just notes for the reader how do i fix this?

Comments are ignored, but they're not preserved either. There's nothing you can do to "fix" this, and it's not a bug.

its not just the comments that are missing it clears everything addons plugins profiles and their settings but i get it if u add something u didnt intend to be in the settings.xml such as a personal note to remember something windower will reset the settings.xml to a 1st run state.
