weird behaviour

Just installed FFXI and windower on a fresh Win7 system. Now everything works fine except for a couple odd things, the icon in the taskbar isn't the windower icon and its the pol icon when playing (plugins etc work fine) however when i minimize in the console the sound is still playing which is really annoying.

Wondering if anyone can help with what I hope are minor issues.

I too have the icon issue with Win7 and even though I've tried messing with the Properties of the shortcut I can't get it to stick to Windower's.

I suspect the sound playing all the time is an FFXI Config setting.  This is a tool you should find in the PlayOnline folder on the Start Menu, if you can't find it it's a program called "FINAL FANTASY XI Config.exe" which you'll find in the games folder "\PlayOnline\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI\Tools" wherever you've installed it.

It's a crude tabbed-dialog, on the Sounds tab is a "Play Always" setting which is probably enabled on your system, I think turning it off stops the sound when the game's in the background.
