Im new to windower. Just recently dl'ed it on my laptop. But iv had nothing but issues with it crashing all the time.

Initally i was having a lot of pol errors that shut the whole game down upon log in. Right when i reach the crysal on the opening cs. I had it working breifly. But then I had read that blinkmenot was no longer supported so i turned it off. When i did that i started getting this error. But when i turned it back ON then the crashing went away. (Dispite that being on or off, it still gets the crashing error when i shut the game down form ingame menu.) So i dl'ed the dressup to see if that would stop it from crashing. And it seemed to kinda help. I tried logging in and it crashed. I tried logging in again and it worked.

Today i signed up for guildwork. Which didnt effect windower so i dont get this. But now any time i log in i get the crashing error again at the same spot. This time it did mention something about the LuaCore.dll file which is in the plugins folder.

Now its freezeing entirly on a black screen when i try to shut down.

This is just the recent stuff. Iv had nothign but issues so far trying to get this set up. Granted i am running on xp, but iv had so many errors it jsut seems far to much to be a result of just this factor.

little searching and found that Luacore.dll was associated with gearswap. Or in my case im guessing the dress up. I got rid of the blinkmenot.dll and tried getting rid of the laucore.dll as well. It didnt help when i loaded up because the file reappeared. So i turned off dressup and got rid of laucore again. I was able to log in twice. Then i got the error again; and noticed the file suddenly showed back up in folder. Got rid of it again and was able to log in again.

So looks like somethings up with the Luacore.dll
So just what is this file? And how do i stop it from showing up in my folder again?

luacore.dll is needed for all the addons to work, thats why it keeps reapearing, you can't get rid of it, maybe due to being on xp it's downloading an outdated version.

then you got the last version, this file should not be the cause. You can try loading just with the luacore.dll and enable each plugin and addon one by one and see if it crash when loading someone.

i had to do that before all this. Thats when i found out that plugin_manager addon was giving me issues.

i already uninstalled windower and got rid of everything. And redownloade it. This time i havnt dl'ed any addons or plugins. I was jsut able to log in 3 tiems in a row. Which is a record. /grin  So maybe it was one of the other addons or plugins. Granted i didnt even dl that many of them.

Ill just see if this works for now. If it does, ill try adding one each day and see...
Been mostly gone since the end of 2013. Im hoping either tomorrow or the day after to finally be able to make a return.

figured id update this. Still have tons of issues with it. I took time tho to install one addon/plugin at a time and test it for a few days to see how it effected me. Afterwords i uninstalled and deleted everything and did a new install with only the ones causing me the least problems.

I still get pol errors some times upon logging in that shut the game down entirely. That annoys me the most. And i nearly always get errors or pol freezing when i shut down.

                  As for individuals;

Point watch - Gives me Pol errors that shuts the game down

Pet TP - im guessing somethings wrong with this one itsself. When i used it, it jsut covers my whole screen in red text. Couldnt see anythign else so i had to take it off.

Autolock style - im guessing not a long enough delay in activating. I usually get a 'unable to perform' type of message when i zone and it doesnt lock. The only real thing it does is give me a reminder to lock it manually.

Abby Chests - I found this slightly odd. But the chest no longer highlight when targeting them. With out this the chest i have selected usually lights up a bit so you can see what your targeting. That is gone with this active.

Im sure there were others i forgot to write down. But i do seem to have a lot of issues with using windower.

xp home edition on desktop and xp MCE on laptop. I know its not supported anymore, but im not sure that alone is the reason for all the problems ive been encountering.

Another one im looking into now; i noticed that me lap top is showing the party tp/mob health info but my desktop is not. Which is odd since both have all the same addons including the partyTP one. Checked the folders and both have all the same items inside.

video of it. As you can see when the error shows up, i can still do things on the game, altho the error will always be locked to the front. And the moments its clicked, everything shuts down. This does not happen if windower is not running.

have you tried disabling the opening video in ffxi's settings

also you do realize that xp is no longer supported by MS or SE(for ffxi) run it on win7 or 8.1 if you can

No i havnt. And yes i know that. But being disable isnt exactly a high paying field.

i also get these kind of errors when shutting down as well.

the reason i suggested that you disable the OP animation is because it crashed right after it started
