Been awhile since I've touched this game, and for that matter windower. Curious to know if there is a way to have it start up "silently" ie..no console pop up at the start of the game.

Not really, no. You can change a few settings in init.txt to minimize the time that the console appears, but it will still show up for at least 5 or 6 seconds.
