I'm trying to fiddle around with some stuff and basically I'm looking for help on how to properly identify job ability packets.

My main goal is to inject a packet into the server aand have the corresponding ability fire.

I have FFXImon and I'm pretty new to all of this however, I pick up on things really quickly.

If someone could leave a simple example of a lua file that simply casts sneak attack or something using packets at a given command (like /sneakattack) and explain how you got the ID for sneak attack that would be awesome.

You can't inject packets with 4.0, but you can with 4.1. However, I suggest extreme caution when doing so; it's very easy to make a mistake and if you do it with the wrong packet you can end up smacked with an LM-17. This has happened on at least two occasions to previous Windower developers. In addition, addons that inject packets directly (instead of going through one of the specialized API functions) are much more likely to be rejected.

I should also mention that we currently block injection of most outgoing packets on the standard servers to avoid abuse.

If you have any more questions, I recommend that you join us on the #lua channel on the ffochat.com IRC network.

Edit: Moved to Addon Development forum
