I had to install FFXI again and my Windower is using the old installation. Is there a way to change it?

      EDIT-

Well, I suppose this can be deleted now. I uninstalled my other FFXI / PoL and re-installed Windower to fix it.

Windower starts whatever it finds in the registry. That means your old installation was still in the registry and the new installation did not overwrite it, which is a bit bizarre. Did you install multiple regional versions of FFXI (i.e. your old one was JP and the new one was EU)? If so, Windower can be configured to start a specific installation. If set to Auto-Detect, it will check the registry for US first, then randomly for either JP or EU.

I might have installed two separate regions unknowingly. I'm US and it's possible Steam issued me an EU key like they've done to people before. Is there a way to check which region a certain installation is?

If that's the case, then that's probably why it kept using the old FFXI installation because I did have Windower on Auto-Detect.

You can check the registry. Hit Win + R, enter "regedit" and press enter, then navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Wow6432Node (unless you're on an older operating system, in which case SOFTWARE is as far as you go) then check which of the following folders are there:

        PlayOnline

        PlayOnlineEU

        PlayOnlineUS

The first one is JP, the other two as the name says. Inside that folder should be a key "InstallFolder", which contains the installation path. If you find a key that has an incorrect install path, (for example if PlayOnline points to an outdated installation path) you can delete it.

Ah, then yes, that was the issue.

Apparently I used my EU install as my main and had windower on auto-detect which made it use the US version.

          Thanks for clearing this up.

Just to clarify, it checks US first, followed by JP, then finally EU, no randomness involved. :)
