    Hello,

Right now, I'm working off of a laptop (1920x1080), as my main system is in for repairs.  Thus I attached via a mini-display port my Dell U3011 (2560x1600) monitor.  This means the configuration is:

    Laptop display:  1920 x 1080

    External display: 2560 x 1600

As I share this laptop, I'm leaving the laptop display as the primary Windows desktop.

When I attempted to set Windower to run at 2176 by 1360 (85% of the U3011 and at 16:10 ratio), Windower set the resolution to 217 x 136.  I can reproduce this problem 100% of the time.  The system is a Dell laptop (L502X) running Windows 7 Ultimate x64.

NOTE:  My hope was to open the large FFXI window on the laptop and then move it to the external screen (U3011).

    Thoughts / suggestions:

    • At a minimum Windower should not change 2176 to 217, it should either give an error message or set the size the largest it supports (in this case 1920).
    • Windower should support dual monitor systems where the primary display is smaller than the external / secondary display.  Two thoughts on this support:
      • Support it, as I was planning:  Open the larger window on the primary (smaller) display and then the user (or Windower) moves it to the larger (external / secondary) display.
      • Provide multi-monitor support in Windower where the user can using the profile set the monitor on which Windower will open FFXI.  I put this way, as some people have more than even 2 monitors.

I thank you for your time and support of Windower.  It is what -- in my humble open -- moves FFXI from a great MMORP to an outstanding MMORPG! :-)

    Sincerely yours,

Windower should not be changing your resolution like that, this sounds like a bug (a weird one though).

Also, being able to drag the window to the bigger screen assumes that you're playing in a window, which is something we shouldn't do. Multi-monitor support would be great, we'd need to let people select the screen in the Windower config, otherwise default to the primary screen. This is something we've always wanted to add but never got around to yet. I can guarantee you that we'll forget about it if you leave it here, so I'd open an issue on our issue tracker, otherwise I'm pretty sure it'll never happen.

I've wanted to do this since before Windower 4 was released, but I just never had the time. The resolution thing is definitely a bug. It should let you go up to the size of your largest monitor at the very least (until proper multi-monitor support is implemented).

      Hi Acorn,

I know I should have it bookmarked, but what the correct link to access the issue tracker?

Actually, I do have it bookmarked, but the computer (Dell Precision 390 died (won't recognize any SAS or SATA drive - MB issues).  I'm in the process of getting a new (to me) Dell Precision T7500 from ServerMonkey.com.  (I'd give the configuration, but after ordering it I'm now trying to make change it ships, so they don't have to deal with upgrades so soon after sending it to me.  Upgrading the dual processors from L5640 to X5650 and going from 16GB (4GB x 4) to 32GB (4GB x 8).)  As for the ill 390, I'm hoping to find someone who will fix it and warranty their work for a full year or more.  (e.g. refurbish it and warranty it.)

Presently, I borrow time from my Son (his laptop) and use an old cranky Dell Insprion 9300, which hangs, BSOD, etc.  Sigh, computers.

In time, I'll be back up and running ;-)
