ok ill try to help you...

in Windows 7, click Control Panel, then right under "Clock, Language, and Region" there should be a highlightable link that says

"Change Keyboards or Other Input Method" click that, then go to administrative, change system locale, set it to Japanese. Then it should work.

To toggle Japanese on and off, just hit the ~(tilda) key or your upper left most key.

you don't need to hold down Alt with windows 7. Atleast that is how it works for me.

                  -- Bump --

Till last update, the IME plugin worked (well, even though I had to have the windows IME graphic keyboard choose menu always up so I could change between Direct Input and Hiragana with the mouse all the time, 'cus yes, Ctrl + ~ haven't worked on windows 8 for a long time).

But now it doesn't work at all anymore, every time I choose hiragana from the windows IME menu and try to type characters they don't become green and only a few apostrophes appear, then the windows IME menu changes immediately to direct input.

Any feedback on that, any information will be greatly appreciated.

                  Thank you.

I'm wondering if there is a fix to this as well.
