    Hello everyone,

I tryed to search the forums for recently posted topics on todays update of the game and windower.

I have had my vaccation, and recently got back into the game. All have worked flawless until today. I update game files, when logging in with windower it starts an update as it should when you guys added some new things. I can log in the game, but here is what happends,

    1. attempt, Zoned from Mog House, runned half way down in Port Jeuno and it crashed (instant crash).

2nd attempt, logged on, did a Chocobo Jig and it crashed again.

3rd attempt, Just stod there in Port Jeuno for 10-15 seconds and it crashed.

4th attempt, Upon logging in It started to blink on the charter, first I becaome a Black soothed Chochobo, 2nd it became geared with random gear choices, and final it crashed the game.

I have tryed to unload addons/Plugins to see if anything was causing me to crash. I'm not saying this is Windower issues as my friend can get online, and we use the same windower settings. I have not update windows for anything, I have scanned my PC for temp files with Spybot Search and Destroy, and cleaned all fixes it did found. I have runned my Antivirus program, and nothing.

So I decided to try pol's own viewer, and login game. I come to the part where I shall push play the second time and it starts to load the game. The screen blinks a few times then an window come up saying following, " Terminated as error occured in Final Fantasy IX. Failed to initialize Direct3D. Please check your computer etc...  I have never had any issues with my grapich card erlier. I tryed to remove the directX and re-install it again, but it won't let me install it again. (Says you allready have an updated version). I haven't tryed to remove my grapic things. But first time I've encounter such issues.

I'm writing here in hope that someone here might be able to help me to solve this. I'm none computer expert, and no clue what to do.

I hope for some help if possible, Thanks

    Regardes

Important bit of info they'd need.  What version of windows you running?  Windows 7, or 8.1/10?  Because I heard with 8.1/10, it can break the install if you run with windower, then try to run without windower.

Try changing the Screen Size setting in FFXI Config for the "Failed to initialize Direct 3D" error

Cant help u on the crashes, but as for the "Failed to initialize Direct 3D"...I recently had the motherboard and video card replaced by HP...actually this PC has been the worst PC I have ever gotten from HP and has been sent back 6 times for repairs...in the process of verifying the PC is bad I have had to uninstall and reformat the PC dozens of times and had never had any issues reinstalling the game or windower...this time when I got the PC back from HP I had the same "Failed to initialize Direct 3D" error...after a few days of trying to figure out what was wrong I change the Screen Size Setting in the "FFXI config" tool and that seemed to work...not sure why I had to change that this time as I've never had to do that before.....however, I still cannot get windower to launch.

          Try this: http://www.bluegartr...Direct-3D-error

Also, the turning into a chocobo issue is you're using the plugin "blinkmenot". Unload/delete it, and instead get the addon "Dressup"; this is the new blinkmenot. Same commands to enable/disable blinking, except with a different prefix: eg. //du bmn always self on

As for the random crashing, I suspect it's a depreciated plugin. Start windower with ALL addon/plugins disabled. Run around and perform actions as you would. Then, turn on an addon/plugin one-by-one and repeat actions. If nothing happens, turn on the next one. Repeat until you've found the culprit.
