Hi guys, how do I fix or update Infobar so that information on mobs in new and most recent areas shows up? I have ???s where it usually says their level, aggressive to sight/sound, etc.
Infobar settings?

this is due to the database.db not being updated in ages, the settings has nothing to do.

Well I'm not familiar with the addon or how it works...I didn't know there is an outdated database that shows all that. Thanks for the reply

I can do an update to this plugin, lord knows I've used it enough What do I need to do to update the database.db file? Is there a github or any instructions on how you are doing the updates to this file?
Thanks guys!

Nevermind, this file is a simple SQLite DB file. Just open up and start updating, I'm going to start working on this.

Ok looked a little more on this, I can see why this never got updated... lol the information on the web is just scarce for a lot of the information needed. I think the best way is to crowd source the update. I'm going to look into creating a webpage that anyone can go to and submit mobs into a MySQL database online. Then I export out that database in the database.db SQLite file for infobar and we will have a pretty comprehensive update. I'll see what I can accomplish and get back to you guys at the end of the month.
Also, another idea that came to mind is there a way to use the current LUA system to query an online mysql database? Take the ID from the target id function and then do a query on a hosted mysql database? Just some an idea, but I'm more of an infrastructure guy and not much of a coder (more a hobbyist when it comes to LUA). I could host the MySQL and code the webpage, but would probably need some help to make the addon a reality.

You can open a raw socket connection to a server with the LuaSocket API. There are some basic wrappers to get http and ftp working on top of LuaSocket, but you'll still need to design some sort of REST API on top of that to actually do the queries. This was always something that was planned to be implemented in the FFXIDB plugin from the start (it was originally going to be an infobar replacement), but other higher priority things kept coming up and no one ever got around to doing it. If you're interested in that sort of thing you might want to contact Arcon. The FFXIDB website already has a huge amount of data that's been automatically collected by people using Guildwork.

That sounds pretty good, but I don't think FFXIDB has much of the information I want to see in an Info bar. Mob Detection, Level, and Weakness I don't think exist on FFXIDB, but then again I could be wrong. Right now I'm overlaying infobar on top of a slightly modified enemybar for some pretty cool results.

The ffxiclopedia is what have most of the information, but they still miss some information in zones like skirmish and vagary. If your are goin to update I'll leave it to you. What I was goin to do is look in the mobs list in the dats for the missing zones and check the info on different webs and complete the tables with the info I get.

This is why I wanted to crowd source it, because I think everyone uses different methods to grab the needed info. It would provide a much more complete database than one person doing it. I'm still looking into various ways to make this happen. In the meantime, I'm picking up a LUA book and going to mess around some more with it. I used to do a lot of C programming in the late 90s, but its been so long I wouldn't say I know much more than the fundamentals of Object Oriented / Top Down programming. That all said, my day job is a systems engineer and I would enjoy doing a project such as this.
Here are my project goals:
1st Goal - Integrate Infobar plugin into Enemybar addon (see SS above for proof of concept)
**Must learn LUA and planning to use luaRocks / luaSQL to do query.
2nd Goal - Move database from SQLite3 to MySql hosted
3rd Goal - Web based entry system for anyone to add details for mobs.

Your goals largely mesh with our goals of expanding FFXIDB, which, as Iryoku mentioned, have been very much neglected. That doesn't mean we're not still very interested in it
If you're interested in cooperating we could discuss what could and should be done. Let us know here or (preferably) hit us up on IRC (irc.ffochat.com, #windower).

I'll drop into the IRC this week and say hello. I don't wish to reinvent the wheel
