I'd like to keep this called XI View, because most everyone from the windower community knows it as that. With that, I will start it as XI View 2.0


--== DESCRIPTION ==--
XI View 2.0 is the continued work on the project to update FFXIs GUI to look cleaner and for status icons to be easier to understand at a glance, this was formerly known as Brandson's UI,FFXI Style or XI View from Darkshade.

XI View 2.0 includes updated Status Icons, Fonts, Graphic User Interface and Menu Skins for both normal 4:3 displays and wide screen 16:9/16:10 displays.

--== INSTALLATION ==--
To install XI View download then extract the archive and then choose the folder pertaining to your monitor resolution (normal screen or wide screen) and then copy the ROM folder to your FFXI directory choosing yes when prompted to overwrite any files.
The FFXI directory is *usually located at X:\Program Files\PlayOnline\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI\ or in x64 OS, X:\Program Files (x86)\PlayOnline\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI\ X in place of your drive label. (Usually C)

In Game for XI View Status Icons to work make sure in Game you go to this menu setting.
Menu - Config - Misc. > Icon Type 2

*The Steam version of FINAL FANTASY XI is located at X:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\ffxi\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI and X:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ffxi\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI

To install the menu themes select the preferred theme in the ROM/0 folder and rename it to something between 14 and 21.DAT. I've included an image to help illustrate this.



Chat log font:


For chat long font to be displayed correctly, go to your FFXI Config and make sure under Textures tab the Fonts drop down is set to Compressed.

XI View 2.03 - (14.64 MB) - Updated for the 7/23/12 FFXI version update. Only thing needing changed was the UI.
XI View 2.02 - (14.61 MB) - Updated for the 6/13/12 FFXI version update. Added new protect/shell icons, fixed the German UI with Aerolite's fix and Bebek's fix for the JP UI.
XI View 2.01b - (14.10 MB) - Added Status Icons, str, agi, vit, mnd, ect.. Added darker blue menu buttons and hopefully fixed the German issue crashing.
XI View 2.01a - (14.13 MB) - Added Kactuar's Fix for Darkshade's Icons as and option (older 16x16 converted to 32x32, icons may look blurry) Also did minor fixes to the icons which include food, rampart, cover, hasso, phalanx, magic shield and souleater. Fixed bar spells, dnc steps and other minor fixes to icons. log/menu chat fixed for the Trebuchet MS font.
XI View 2.01 - (11.47 MB) - Added dnc icons, bazaar icons and Deathbringer pointers. Also fixed mnk icons.
XI View 2.00 - (10.44 MB) - Integrated Deathbringer's latest font pack into XI View.

I'd like to thank Kactuar for fixing the Icon Changer program so I was able to do this. I would also like to thank Darkshade (for icon & UI tweeks) and Deathbringer (for font & cursor tweeks), because without them this wouldn't be possible.
Also, thank you Hyshio for allowing me to continue on with the project.
I've tested as much as I could with the jobs I have leveled, and so far everything is in working order.
I tried keeping this close as possible to what Darkshade has done, so that there was no confusion. I will update this as changes are made from FFXI being updated and add more screenshots at a later time.

Yes those were fixed in this update, and I couldn't agree with you more about getting use to new icons but who knows how long it will last depending on if SE decides to change things again.

I can look into adding that and some others later, I was just working on these for so long that it starts to get exhausting. I was also messing around with changing the Bazaar Icon next to your name too, I just haven't found anything I like yet. I did a blueish and brown one but the blue makes it look like lots of people running around with blue LS pearls lol, so we'll see.

personally I like the SE one, yours does look good, maybe throw it in view as a .DDS swap option?

That looks pretty nice. Maybe just darken the outline a little bit so it stands out a little more and doesn't look like a brown linkshell from a distance.

Here were some ideas I came up with right before I quit playing. I never did get a good concensus from the public on which design they favored the most. Granted these were just quick edits and were by no means my final adaptation:

Only question I have is for the focus icon on MNK, not sure why you picked the bio hazard symbol

I absolutely LOVE the MNK changes, so damn nice.

I am now wondering however if it is possible to make the paralyze icon(barparalyze) look more yellow. I noticed it tonight and didnt know what it was til i clicked it^^

Just noticed when i used hundred fists, the icon is a foot, not sure if that was suppose to be the new footwork icon or not. Footworks still has the "bear paw" look.

Your dark seal appears to be swapped with diabolic eye, while diabolic eye uses the aife's medal icon.

Edit: rasp has no color either.

I was really worried that no one would pick up the project, however I must say WIldman48 has done an amazing amazing amazing job on this. I love the look and feel. The new icons take a little getting use to but once you do you never want to go back.
