Win7 alt tab crash and no plugins loading Two different things made it work once, now back to same problem

Things that I've done:
-Turned off UAC
-Ran programs as administrator
-Changed compatibility and permissions
-Replaced hook.dll file with new one (worked ONCE)
-Windower V4 trick (worked ONCE)
-Reinstalled windower multiple times, putting it in its own folder each time
-Installed latest video card drivers
Specs:
-Windows 7 x32 bit
-4 GB Ram
-ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series
If anyone has any new input or things that worked for them, I would greatly appreciate it because I'm at my wits end, and I can't stand having to keep remaking my macros... >.<

The V4 trick where you load V4, have it at the account screen, then load Windower, and log in with Windower, and then close V4. I did some variation on that, I think I kept V4 opened longer and thats when it worked the second time, but now it doesn't work.

9.1 or 9.11 I believe are the two more popular ones. I've been running 9.1 in XP Pro on my 4850 with no issues for a long time now.

Anyways I have found a fix for me that so far has worked 100% of the time. Install fraps and have FRAPS running before you load the Windower. I'm prolly not using the most recent version of FRAPS but it shouldn't matter.

If you are set on getting the 10.3's then the Fraps workaround seems to work (for me at least). But I found it easier just to rollback to Catalyst 10.2.
So for ATI cards at least, im leaning towards a weird driver problem.

- Just installed FFXI on Windows 7
- Installed Windower
- Updated hook.dll with one in Sticky
- UAC is off
- Both POL and the Windower applications are all "Run as Administrator"
Alt+Tab crashes my game.
Not sure what to do :/

What video card and driver version?
Hate to keep bringing it up... but probly better than 90% of the time, it is a newer driver problem. Perhaps someone has it stable with your same video card family and they can tell you what driver release is working for them.

My Toshiba Satellite A215 laptop has a ATI Radeon X1200 video card and dxdiag says the Driver version is 8.393.0.0.
Here's the thing. I played this for a year on this laptop with Windows Vista. I upgraded to Win 7 a week or two ago, and had no problems installing and playing using Windower either. I got a virus yesterday and had to reinstall Win 7, and have been getting this problem now. I did nothing different that I can think of between the install two weeks ago and today.
I haven't tried the Fraps thing, as I'd hoped to avoid installing software I don't use on this clean install...
EDIT: I disabled every extension, loaded it, and it worked. I then loaded each extension individually, alt+tabbed, and no crash. So I've re-enabled them in the init.txt. We'll see what happens next time...

May be worth grabbing a slightly newer catalyst driver (maybe even go up to 9.1 if possible) and running it through ATIMod if needed to install it for the laptop.

You cannot bind keys.
You can open the console (using /console console_toggle), but you cannot type in the console.(You'll still type in the game instead.)
You can still use most plug-ins fine.
