So, a few days ago my FFXI has lost all sound. I run windower, but even when using normal POL, there is no sound. I'm using Win7, also. I cant think of how to fix it, short of reinstalling, which I wanna avoid. also, windower's "enable sound" is selected in the options.

I am experiencing something similar, however, I've only lost sound effects (footsteps, magic/abilities, button presses, etc.), and only after I bumped up background resolution to max (2048X2048). Also running Windows 7 (32 bit).

It was suggested that my graphics card can't handle it, but it's boggling that a 9800 GTX+ should be unable to support sound effects without losing anything else.

FFXI and POL settings both have sound enabled, and FFXI's settings "max sound effects" is maxed out.

There's is absolutely no sound in my game, whatsoever :/

What soundcard are you using? And what interfaces are the sound and video cards using?

Just wondering if maybe you don't have a bus saturation issue. Your Video could have a maxed out pci latency timer, and the sound card is no longer getting a decent time slice, so it is clipping it off.

I ran into this with a Soundblaster Fatal1ty Pro XiFi PCI card. Left channel would drop out, and then I would here it clipping out additional sounds. Increasing default PCI latency to 96 in the BIOS and reducing FFXI sounds to 16 stopped a lot of it, but it still happened in Campaign and Besieged (which I do a lot). I upgraded to a PCI-E card and it is much better, but still only running 16 sounds in FFXI I think.

i dont think that's the issue. My sound is just running fro ma built in set on the Mobo, my Video is running through PCI-e. Even though FFXI/POL has no sound, no other application on my PC has any sound issues whatsoever.
