I really want to setup this Dropmyrights thing, but everytime I try and set it up It just opens the DropMyRights Folder. I'm using Vista so I don't know if this is the problem.

EDIT: got it to work, but in the security tab nothing has changed.... ><;

EDIT2: It can be launched in "C" but looks like nothing has changed but not in "U" It just crashes.

I believe that the author said in a later blog post that it wouldn't work in Vista, because they added built-in functionality when they designed the operating system (DropMyRights was a program he made back in 2004). Or something to that effect. I use Windows XP, so I couldn't tell you for sure. What you can do to check to see if it is working is to download and run Process Explorer (www.sysinternals.com), right click on the process, go to 'Properties' and click on the 'Security' tab. It should sort of look like the screen shots of the firefox.exe I posted ... although I've never really used Vista, so I can't say for certain.

ok I got the program and got to the properties, now how would I go about increasing security by blocking the things you blocked?

I didn't use Process Explorer to lower the rights of the program, I only use DropMyRights to do that. I used Process Explorer only to check to make sure that DropMyRights had lowered the rights of the program.

If DropMyRights is not lowering the rights of the program you want, then chances are that it does not work under Vista.

In Vista, you shouldn't need it, because you can already do it manually with the "Run As.." just dont' set anything to run as administrator, and make sure your not using an Administrator account.

I don't see this option ><; All I see is "Run as Administrator" Although I have changed my account to Standard user.

On the sygate personal firewall download I am not seeing it available for vista OS, which is what I have. Seems like they'd have one by now, am I blind or what? I installed it on my cpu and it says it's running but can't show the user interface. Any advice?

I'm curious as to how even tho the threats are being termed as keylogger, they are still able to login to people's accounts. I mean we never enter our Account Names, or Account ID's, so how are they getting that info to be able to apply a password to, and log into our accounts?
My Favorites:
IneptVagrant - Best AutoExec member on the forums.
Krellion - Most Professional post responder.
WhiteWing - Great for Spellcast, also genuinely interested in solving a problem when he asks/suggests.
IanAKAIan - Someone who is genuinely interested in getting a problem solved.

Would love to see improvement on:
The lack of information for Chatmon Wiki, or More Developer Q&A on Forums
More breadth given to AutoExec; more information on it's functionality. Also would love to see event="login" fixed so that it works more than once (again).

My guess is that it takes a picture when you boot up POL.

if you want sygate in a vista usable form its not going to happen cause symantec bought them out
if what they did to @guard(this is that the norton firewall started as) is any indication they will totally screw sygate as well

Is Google Chrome any safer to use in regards to keylogging prevention?

I think I'm having some issues with Firefox. I've used it for about a year now and it worked fine up until last update. Now I really question whether any of my add-ons are functioning. I have my ABP and NoScript configured exactly like the OP instructions and again everything was working as should up until a couple weeks ago. Now, the status bar shows nothing in regard to NoScript, ever, and I don't think anything is being blocked. Any help is greatly appreciated.

After playing FFXI for over 4 years, I have just added Windower and was very skeptical about getting hacked because of it. Your guide has put my mind at ease, thanks for the awesome advice.

Adblock suddenly is blocking my whole wiki (wiki.ffxiclopedia.org) when I cut it off, wiki works fine. Even when I allow wiki in adblock, it will re-block it when I click on something. Any ideas?

Aikar you do a really great job of advising people of what to set and how to do it. I saw this linked on Alla's main page. You might, if you have time (lol as if you have any), want to update this 'how to' to current versions and such.

Great job on the original regardless!
